Laird Lee Kirk

I’m a multidisciplinary creative based in Cumbernauld, Scotland, working across writing, music, performance and spoken word. Writing under the name Laird Lee Kirk, I have self-released the novella I Suffer Alchemy and a poetry chapbook titled A Pocketful of Scars. My work often explores memory, transformation, emotion and the strange beauty that can emerge after difficult experiences.

My creative practice is intuitive, dreamlike and exploratory. Right now, I’m creating instrumental acoustic music that is detuned, raw and melodic, often combined with spoken word. My music can also move into more experimental sonic explorations using synths, samplers, voice and atmosphere, with an interest in texture, emotion and creating immersive moods that feel nostalgic, strange and emotionally honest.

I love nature and often find creative inspiration in the natural world. I have a poetic way of seeing things and sometimes think of trees as microphones for speaking to Gaia — a creative image that reflects my sense of connection, wonder and curiosity.

Alongside writing and music, I have experience in acting and performance. In 2024, I performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe as Drug Dealer Neil in Smoke Not Included. I also appeared in a music video for Kathryn Joseph’s song when i wake the want is.

I identify strongly with neurodivergent ways of thinking and am currently within the NHS ADHD assessment pathway, having progressed through the initial stage and been awaiting further assessment for the past two years.
