Amber Lee Dodd

I am an award-winning writer and creative facilitator based in Glasgow. I am the author of We Are Giants (Quercus), Lightning Can’t Chase Me Home (Scholastic) and The Thirteenth Home of Noah Bradley (Scholastic). Alongside my novels, my short fiction for adults has been published internationally and broadcast on BBC Radio 4.

My work spans fiction, creative writing, arts participation and community engagement, with a particular interest in storytelling as a tool for connection, reflection and social change. I have appeared at festivals, schools, universities and cultural events across the UK, including the Edinburgh International Book Festival, and have contributed to conversations on creativity, inclusion and storytelling through media appearances including the BBC.

Alongside my writing practice, I have over a decade of experience designing and delivering creative programmes, workshops and learning opportunities for schools, universities, arts organisations and community groups. I am passionate about creating inclusive, welcoming spaces where people feel empowered to explore their own stories and creative voices.

While writing remains at the heart of my practice, I am increasingly interested in interdisciplinary and participatory approaches to creativity. I have recently begun exploring jewellery-making and have a growing interest in pottery and visual arts, often drawing on visual and making-based activities within workshops to encourage creativity, reflection and engagement.

My work is rooted in curiosity, community and the belief that creative expression can help people connect with themselves, each other and the wider world.
