The image shows a hexagonal set of coasters made from recycled plastic waste. The coasters are vibrant blue, with swirling, marbled patterns giving them a distinctive and artistic look. They are neatly packaged with a brown cardboard sleeve, featuring clean, modern typography.

Bartłomiej Urbański

I am Bartłomiej Urbański, a designer and founder of DOBA Studio, a creative hub in Edinburgh focused on transforming plastic waste into unique and meaningful art pieces. Inspired by the Precious Plastic movement, I work with discarded plastics, such as HDPE and polypropylene, crafting them into vibrant slabs, coasters, and jewelry. Each piece tells a story of renewal, highlighting the beauty and potential of materials often seen as waste.

My practice is deeply rooted in sustainability and community engagement. I collaborate with local nurseries, eco-friendly shops, and households to collect materials, fostering a shared effort to address plastic pollution. My work has taken me beyond Scotland, including collaborations like the Altermatter Project in Indonesia, where I contributed to exploring creative reuse in a cultural context.

Through DOBA Studio, I aim to inspire change by showing that art can be a powerful tool for environmental awareness. My mission is to encourage others to rethink waste, embrace sustainable living, and see the value in what we discard.
