Emily Cropton

I am an artist and designer engaged in the making of objects, landscapes and performances. My work is site-specific and proposes new relationships between environmental and social systems, exploring ways for humans to co-exist with the non-human world as a part of local and global ecosystems. I primarily work with soil, plants, clay, wood and stone to create permanent and ephemeral works within public spaces. I work across disciplines and employ drawing, making, movement and performance to communicate my work and provide ways for people to engage with it. I work closely with communities of place and purpose, responding to local culture and context whilst negotiating with the geology, ecology and topography of a site.
