Isabella Halm
Isabella Halm (she/they) is a queer, neurospicy visual artist.
Made in Germany, settled in Scotland, at home in the Sea.
Their work is rooted in a lifelong fascination with archetypal themes like Eros, Thanatos, and all flavours of human connection. At the core of their practice is a desire to challenge and deconstruct conditioned narratives—whether they relate to gender, identity, or societal expectations.
Isabella approaches their work with playfulness and depth, striving to create pieces that invite the viewer to engage in diverse manners, on intellectual, spiritual, emotional and even profane levels. Their work becomes a space for dialogue and exploration, encouraging reflection on what it means to be human, queer, and unapologetically whole.
The use of mixed media allows for exploration of texture, form, and imagery that reflect the fluidity of identity and the varied emotional landscapes that inform human experience. Through intimate, nuanced, visceral compositions Isabella’s work aims to provoke prompting questions about our collective and personal narratives, and inviting others into a shared experience of vulnerability, connection, and transformation.
