Juliana Capes

I am a multidisciplinary visual artist with a diverse practise working across sculptural installation, film and moving image, description, participation and performance. My diverse artworks often use the vocabulary of natural phenomena to ask questions about the processes of feeling, seeing and believing. My work is frequently built in public space and is intrinsically defined by the way that people engage with it. Durational installations that set up situations for community participation and conceptual consideration of the fabric of everyday life.I make poetic descriptive moving image work that considers access as an instigating factor.

I am passionate about equal access to art and often work in an inclusive and participatory way, having been the lead artist of National Gallery of Scotland Visual Impairment programme for 25 years and consequently an expert in audio description for visual art.
