A small sculptural chair made with locally sourced timber, branch wood, and recycled copper. Both the chair and the leaf are made using traditional hand tools, and techniques.

Lar MacGregor

I am a freelance artist, curator and blogger, based in Inverness. I predominantly work with regenerative materials and plastics to create sculptural works that explore themes around place-making, sustainability and ecology. I am fascinated by the aspects of place-making that improve urban vitality, and promote people’s health, happiness, and well-being. Using an ecological anatomy approach, I study the correlation between structure and habitat, between certain well-defined anatomical adaptations. I investigate the abstract ‘conversation’ that I have with Bryophytes (Mosses, Liverworts, and Hornworts), and other flora and fauna.I am also an active member of Applied Arts Scotland’s, Closing the Loop Research Group.
