Lucia Greatrex Toscano
Lucia Greatrex Toscano is an Edinburgh based ceramicist. Their practice centres on the making process as a form of performance. Drawing on studio pottery, natural landscapes and art nouveau silhouettes, they explore the expectation that objects must reach the end of the process in order to be resolved.
Their vessels obscure clear use through layered or excessive functional elements, porous surfaces, visible traces of handling and deliberately unresolved forms. Rather than treating completion as a necessary end point, the work positions the making process itself as a form of resolution.
