The image shows Narcisse Empoté-Ose caught in a moving plank on stage. He is wearing white pijamas, jogger style, and blue fake Crocs. His face has traditional drag king makeup (beard and moustache) and Narcisse's expression is showing effort. The light is stage light, very red and bright. On the floor around Narcisse, there are period product boxes.

I have two distinct practices.

One of them is drag. I use performance and storytelling to offer a perspective on free and liberative expression. My approach is non-competitive, centered around joy and political. I co-created a drag show in Edinburgh, called “What If?”, for people who find themselves underrepresented in the mainstream current of drag. At this show, anything can happen.

My other practice is writing, more specifically play-writing, and then directing said plays. The themes I explore are often linked to finding community in a changing and challenging world. Both my practices are unapologetically queer, trans, neurodivergent, political and centered around the triumph we can find in building communities. They also are very correlated to crafting, because I need to invent props, sets, puppets…

My practice is survival. It is a cry for a flamboyant way of existing
