Nichelle Santagata
Nichelle is a Cultural Knowledge Bearer; Prose-Poetry, Nonfiction, Fiction Writer; Hip Hop and Contemporary Dancer; Movement Artist; Spoken Word/Sound Artist; Radio Show Host/Music and Sound Art Selector; Filmmaker; Photographer; Scrapbooker/Collage Artist; Textile Artist; Videographer; Illustrator; and Creative Director from so-called Arizona, United States and currently based in the United Kingdom.
Nichelle will obtain her PhD in Sociology focusing on Black Women’s mental health and healing using Arts-based methods and Autoethnography. Nichelle shares her Knowledges and Voice while on a journey of reimagining the world. She navigates, learning and unlearning, through a wide range of social, political, and economic justices and injustices amongst an abundance of cultures while living in and visiting various environments. Places Nichelle has lived and learned among are Turtle Island/so-called United States, England, Aotearoa/so-called New Zealand, so-called Australia, and Scotland. Nichelle views her Life and Creations through many lenses including Black & Indigenous Feminism, Womanism, Disability Justice, and more. Nichelle has shared her Voice across the globe with some places such as: Push the Boat Out Edinburgh’s International Poetry Festival, Govanhill International Festival, BBC Words First x Neu! Reekie!, Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival, and Scottish BPOC Writers Network, Liga de Artistas y Creadoras, and more.
