Sophie Dodd

I am a neurodivergent artist from Glasgow working across painting, print, multimedia, text, and three-dimensional work. Currently undertaking my degree in Contemporary Art Practice.

My practice draws from my lived experience of autism and dyslexia, focusing on how I view, process, and navigate the world. I explore themes of overstimulation, sensory experience, memory and masking.

My work embraces neurodiversity through playful, tactile, and sensory-led processes to encourage sensory engagement and play. I manipulate text to convey the struggles and possibilities of dyslexia.

As a neurodivergent visual artist, I often experience difficulty fitting into typical standards. Because of this, I choose to work outside conventional formats as a way of disrupting norms and expectations. This approach acts as a parallel to the restrictions I experience within both an art practice and social structures. I use art as a way to communicate my perspective and build connection with others.
