Timothy Aikman
My practice is a process-led photographic practice grounded in fine art, documentary, and social realism. I like to create images that reflect lived experience, vulnerability, and the complexity of everyday life, with a particular focus on underrepresented voices. Neurodivergence is central to how I think, work, and make. I work slowly and attentively, guided by pattern recognition, sustained focus, and an awareness of detail and nuance. My projects develop through iterative cycles rather than fixed outcomes, allowing space for uncertainty, reflection, and care. This approach shapes both the form and content of the work, as well as how I engage with subjects and audiences. I am drawn to long-form, project-based work that resists simplification and challenges normative ideas of productivity, professionalism, and visibility in the arts. Through photography, I aim to create space for empathy, dialogue, and alternative ways of seeing.
